www.GreaterInwoodPartnership.org a valuable resource tool for neighborhood partners, home buyers and Houston Realtors.
Houston, March 27, 2009 - The Greater Inwood Partnership has redesigned www.GreaterInwoodPartnership.org, a new and improved Web Site to showcase the area's neighborhoods.
"The new and improved site is not only a resource for our neighborhood partners but also a great resource for home buyers and Houston realtors not familiar with the Greater Inwood area," said Ollie Perry, a Greater Inwood Partnership board director, resident and GIP website manager. "We wanted to build a site that showcases our great neighborhoods as well as all of the community building projects for which the Greater Inwood Partnership is responsible."
"When we read in the newspaper about crime in a few of the apartment complexes we forget about the many great stories we have to tell. Young professionals and other first-time home buyers are quickly discovering the area's affordability, its' well maintained neighborhoods and its' close proximity to the Galleria, Downtown Houston and the Houston Intercontinental Airport," Perry added. "We've also seen a huge turn around in the notorious DeSoto area where the city has shut down five problem apartment complexes. Other property owners are making significant investments by upgrading their properties in order to attract quality tenants."
The new website contains links to all of the Greater Inwood neighborhood websites as well as informational articles about those neighborhoods. "Home buyers and realtors will be able to see all of our neighborhoods together in one place and learn about some of the wonderful work that the Greater Inwood Partnership is doing. We think this will prove to be a valuable tool especially for those who might not be familiar with the Greater Inwood area," Perry said.
Another new feature of the website is the ability to become a member of the Greater Inwood Partnership by paying membership dues online with a credit card via PayPal. The Greater Inwood Partnership is supported 100% by its members and operates mostly on membership dues alone. For those who might not be able to lend monetary support, there are many areas where you can volunteer your service. The new website contains information about the various committees and ongoing projects.
History
For the past 16 years dedicated volunteers have been working together in the Greater Inwood Partnership (GIP) to build a better community. The Greater Inwood area is located in near northwest Houston and is comprised of 35 neighborhoods and an equal number of multi-family complexes with a combined population larger than many small cities.
The Greater Inwood Partnership is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization devoted to developing, encouraging, promoting, beautifying, protecting, and unifying the greater Inwood area of Houston.
The Partnership has been successful in the creation of three new park spaces, the defeat of two proposed 'Hot Sheet' motels, the creation of the Near Northwest Management District and a City of Houston Super Neighborhood Council, the awarding of in excess of $60,000 in education scholarships, the 2.8 mile construction of the White Oak Bayou Trail Extension along the west side of White Oak Bayou from Pinemont Drive to Victory to begin in October 2009 and the planting of more than 4000 trees and shrubs. Since January 2006 the Greater Inwood Partnership has been an agency for the Harris County Community Service and Restitution Program. This program, which operates for five hours each Saturday morning, has been successful in ridding the area of tons of trash.
