Over 400 people gathered Saturday, November 1st and posed for the cameras and granted autographs at the 2008 Houston SPCA Pawparazzi Ball held at the Hotel Zaza. The glittery carpet event, which had been sold out since August, benefited our life-saving programs and services. Major underwriters for the event included Bernard Aptaker, Jim & Suzy Godwin, The McCrea Foundation, Pi Studios, Evelyn H. Griffin, Ginger Kyle and Nabil Arwadi, Art and Betty Sue Peabody, Elizabeth and Gary Petersen, Sysco Food Services of Houston, and John Sturkie.

This year's ball, chaired by Ginger Kyle and Traci Lee, honored Evelyn H. Griffin for her long-time support of The Houston SPCA. 'Pet'itarians were also celebrated for their concern to help improve the welfare and happiness of animals in the Houston area, and included Jenna Creel, Debra and Mark Grierson, Elizabeth and Gary Petersen,Trish and Ty Whitcomb, and Karen and Rudy Wildenstein. Bob Devlin and Neiman Marcus were also recognized as a Corporate Honoree.

The event featured a Paparazzi catwalk, silent auction, and a car raffle featuring one of the final yellow SmartCars to be released in the United States. Attendees included Houston SPCA President Patti Mercer and Board Chairman David Welsh, Kelley and Steve Lubanko, Sayler and Greg Robbins, Lynn Zeid, Diane Cain, Catherine Chandler, Susan and Dan Boggio, and Katherine and Robert Stacey. This party was anything but stuffy! Among the photographers and entertainers, revelers also included Dacia Bryan, Shelley Henshaw, Catherine Badger, and Chris and William Leighton. Alicia and Lance Smith (whose children were among this year's Youth Ambassadors) were spotted dancing the nights away to the sounds of Password.
