Darke Gallery is pleased to announce their November exhibition, Paint as Evidence, featuring new works by Joseph Cohen. These beautiful pieces in reclaimed latex and enamel paint by this Houston based painter will transform the gallery. The exhibition opens Wednesday, October 29 and continues through Saturday, November 22

Cohen uses paint as both a sensual, viscous matter that can flow, drip and carry a brushstroke's gesture; yet it is also at times governed by the laws of gravity. His materials are found objects. By reclaiming "oops paint" (paint returned to home improvement stores) to serve as his "found palette," Cohen is able to employ the gamut of hues and finishes initially procured for their ability to enhance interior and exterior spaces. Commercial and exotic woods intended for decorative purposes may now serve as support systems that are not visible from the front of the works, while others intended for flooring may serve as surface grounds.

Artist's reception is Saturday, November 1, from 5 to 8 pm . Refreshments will be provided.

Recently expanded, Darke Gallery exhibits contemporary art of the finest quality, representing over twenty local artists working in all media. For upcoming show schedules go to www.darkegallery.com or call 713-542-3802.
